Luna Lovegood Socks : )

Amazingly the stripes matched up quite well and they're nice and soft.

And they are at least twice as neon as they appear in photos : )
These were knit on size 2 needles, & the colorway is Fizz in Knitpicks' Felici.

Forget-me-nots....

Wish these bloomed all year...

I had fun making a delicate necklace celebrating the slow Spring warm-up...

Some late snow drops. I was surprised with how big they were...

Poplar Cowl

This was a lovely quick knit from my special treat from a local yarn store. I changed the free pattern by Kelbourne Woolens a little bit... It's definitely keeping me warm during this cold snap.

The yarn was three colors of Andes from Debbie Bliss; it's very soft and creates a pretty stitch definition. My cowl was knit on a size 6 circular and only took about a week. It was a very easy pattern to memorize; although I did record how many rows I finished as I went along.

Midway through my week I did make a pair of earrings which match with just about everything I've worn...

Design Progress...

I'm designing a really simple shawl because once more I can't find a pattern which would do this yarn justice.
The little backbone of straight stitch is turning out better than I expected....

It's turning out as fairly mindless knitting now that I've got a basic pattern figured out.
The yarn is KNIT ONE crochet too TY-DY SOCKS 80% superwash wool 20% nylon colorway: 1713 Berry Patch.
I'm knitting this on size three needles and it's nice and soft with minimal splitting.

Beating the Weather

Hopefully the cold temperatures are behind us and we can really begin planting.
The wisteria is blooming for the first time; hard to believe all the bees and butterflies are beginning to fly around.

Geranium starts we wintered over; the little leaves are so adorable....

Luna Lovegood Socks

I started these with the intentions of wearing them for Easter... then I actually started knitting. With how bright the colors are and the width of the stripes; I've decided that these are a fashion decision which could only be made by Luna Lovegood... I'm not sure if I'll be allowed to wear these out in public : D

These are Knitpicks' Felici colorway: Fizz. On size 2 needles.

I'm midway through the second sock and I think I'll be able to finish them before the end of April....

Pretties

I've seen a few Mallard ducks nesting and Robins are starting their nests.
I can't wait to see the fledglings.

The violets & forget-me-nots are out too; on which my camera refuses to focus...

March Socks : )

I've finished my March socks.
These are Knitpicks' Felici colorway: Marsh.
Knitpicks was kind enough to send me replacement yarn after I found a knot in my first sock.

The stripes match up through the toes although the first does have a smidge more of the electric blue.
I love how soft these socks are and even though I didn't finish them in time for St. Patrick's Day; I do have socks for next year : D

Spring is officially here...

I'm loving all the flowers which are out now; I hope that the cooler night temps don't freeze all the blooms off of the fruit trees.

This year's Bee Balm.
Can you believe the week before these were barely out of the ground?
It's really multiplied from last year when we just had a few plants.

Wild Wild West Cowl

A bit of a colorway change from my usual; once again it's Knitpicks' Imagination colorway: Wild West.

Same pattern as my usual cowls.
I love how fast these crochet up in two days and how warm they are with the Merino Wool, Alpaca, & Nylon.

The colors are lovely jewel tones & Mom is interested in one of her own....

Book Bonuses

I went to a lecture about books and was inspired to create a sketchbook of my own. I always forget how many small fussy steps are involved with book binding.

I ended up sewing two sections of 5 pages each individually then sewed their spines together. It could probably have been made bigger but I couldn't stand doing all the edging steps again. Each hole had to be individually punched with an awl as well.

I also found this pretty embroidery book which has some lovely designs I can't wait to try out...

It can be found on Amazon.
I think I'll make some knitting bags or maybe a scene to put in one of my hanging embroidery hoops....

Fruit Trees

Crab Apple Blossom
With the frosty weather we've been having all our plants have needed to be covered to save them from the frost.
It looks a bit like we have miniature circus tents throughout our yard...
