Roses

Our rose bush is going nuts with blooms. I have high hopes that it will bloom throughout the summer. Out of the photos I took of roses, even the ones not in our garden, these are the ones that didn't focus on GREENERY; so frustrating.

More Flowers

These were actually at their best before Florida, but PowerPoint is still my only editing tool, & I desperately need to take off photos before my computer decides a permanent slowdown will be fun.

Robin's Nest

I'm unsure what happened to the rest of the robins as no babies have been seen hopping about, though they were safely hatched before we left for Florida.

My camera loves greenery.

Granny Square 2.0

Most of the granny squares I've crocheted minus the 7? I gave to Mom & Em. Colors are an estimate because I have yet to make another lightbox. The last one was made out of tissue paper and an old box... Bet you can guess what happened to the tissue paper.

So many ends, so many pretty colors.

In the heat Gizzy is convinced that if he lays directly beneath me, right where my feet should go, he will magically become cooler. The basket was a NEW PLAN that involved me being able to leave my seat with minimal injury for either of us. To the left is my basket for most of the colors in my granny squares; the rest are on the couch.

First Strawberry

Alright while we have been gathering strawberries in the heat these past few days, this was the first to ripen.

SOCKS

It wasn't really that dark, my flash was having fun
Circular knitting in any form confuses me, mainly the idea of joining had me resistive, though I found out that if you have really tight gauge (my rabbit was knit on American 4s) it's not really a problem. So when I was lured by the idea of hand-knit socks, I begged a lesson & have made good progress... in the miles of knitting.

I hope given that the yarn is variagated that I will not have fits of boredom; as every few rows I have the urge to show it off, I don't find this likely. I fear that I am annoying the people around me though.

Mrs S.'s Bluebird

Remember my wool felted bluebird? Here's my second attempt, & just about the same size. After a good solid 5 hours of felting he/she is finished; now to carefully pack it into my bag...

Knitted Rabbit & Jacket

I've finished my rabbit's jacket though it turned out to be slightly wider than necessary; I'm planning on felting it a bit to create a better fit, but I'm going to wait until we're home again. The number of strings I had to weave in was irritating; I counted more than 12.
Note: Both the rabbit and jacket patterns are Fuzzy Mitten's.

Small Quilt

I've finished the binding, though I still have all the quilting to complete. I also didn't bring a needle large enough for my thread to go through, maybe Mom brought one..

Atlantis launched without problems on May 14th, 2010!

Granny Squares

I've just learned how to make granny squares and am quickly becoming addicted; I'm thinking about making a doll quilt... Mom wants one too. :)

For an idea for scale, two of the squares laid together is just a little shorter than a pen.

I used fingering weight with an E hook for the RWB, and for the smaller square I used crochet thread and a size 5 hook.

New Flowers

New Header

I realize a new header is desperately needed, but I haven't drawn any mice lately and the computer with the ancient Photoshop is in the basement. So while I won't have a new header for a while, I might be able to create one after Florida. Right now my only other option is editing through Powerpoint. I can do it, though I have yet to figure out how to color my various objects on it; otherwise it is the perfect tool.

In the meantime, a salute to all the Mothers out there, may you find time to relax.

Mildly Insane

As I have been packing for our 10 day trip to Florida to see the space shuttle Atlantis launch, I have realized that I specialize in making myself insane. The picture above is most of the projects I'm working on besides packing, & my goal is to finish most of them tonight before Mother's Day so I can spend it with fam.
I have a feeling some of these will become car projects.

On a side note I have become very good with blind stitch, though ripping out for various reasons still abounds.

Pea Trellis

Dad's ingenious pea trellis, the peas are some of the biggest plants in the garden that have sprouted right now. I hope it works as awesomely as it looks.

One of Dad's seedlings is flowering! I think it's a pumpkin or a squash; maybe a melon of some kind... anyway it's not dying yay! On a side note on the tomatoes that we bought a few weeks back we now have at least 4 growing tomatoes. Now if only it were warm enough to plant them....

Rabbits & Pansies

I just finished this bunny but I'm still working on a little blue jacket for him. I had to iron his ears to keep them from curling though it looks as if his left could use some more. Patterns by Fuzzy Mitten. Though I created his crochet tail.

And my Pansies in a tub are finally blooming again; they really disliked being inside. The tub was actually a $1 at Target & I just poked some holes in the bottom with a large nail for drainage although it does get dry quickly.

Needle Felting

Somewhat surprisingly yesterday I made these two birds out of needle felting. Considering my fear of needles and barbed anything it is quite the feat. I roughly followed the patterns in wool pets by Laurie Sharp and had an aha! moment about the shaping; I would recommend its intro if you are having difficulties. If you would like to see more photos they are on my flickr. Just for reference if you can't tell; the coin in the pictures is an American Dime.
