Various Finished Projects

X-mas prezzie for Mom because she likes Ugly Dolls.

Inspired by Tiny Yarn Animals by Tamie Snow I'm not sure I liked how the ears turned out.

X-mas pezzie for Em once again pattern by anapaulaoli

Varied a little from anapaulaoli's penguin pattern.
Pictures of finished stuff I've been working on, once again from patterns etc... I'm not sure I like how the bird turned out but oh well...

Solstice

Happy Solstice everyone! We inadvertently started our celebrations early this year when the power went out around nine... Lucky Mom had just finished her shower, I had not. We wrapped up with blankets and used the outside light to create our crafts. It sure was entertaining trying to think of things to do. Our water ran the whole time so I was able to wash out my paintbrushes, and Gizz was extra snuggly. :) We finished putting up curtains in the windows and doorways, and the fireplace helped to create heat. The power is back on now yay! Em and I are madly trying to finish various gifts, and I have numerous projects to finish/wrap.... and my craft areas are mess yuck!

Have a cool necklace that I can't wait to show y'all it was inspired by the Egyptian collars, but it needs to be reworked because it doesn't lie flat... and well we'll see how quickly I'll get photos up :)

Cute Bear

Actually bought this beauty on our trip to Ohio and and am just posting about her now..... maybe that says something about my picture download laziness... yeah we'll go with that :)

Clove and Tangarine Animal

This little animal was made out of whole cloves, a tangarine, brown paper ears, some sock yarn for the tail, pipe cleaners for the feet and two safety eyes without their backing. At first I was trying for a hedgehog, but in the end it turned out more like a 'cat with an afro.' As we found out he leaks a little orange juice, but smells very Christmas-y. Mom gave me the helpful hint of using an awl-like tool or needle to create the hole for the cloves to be stuck into; much easier than to simply pushing them in.
*To attach his ears I cut a small slit in the tangarine, inserted the ears and then put in a few whole cloves in the slit to keep them in place. The tail was attatched similarly, while the pipe cleaners were folded in half and bent in the middle again for feet and just stuck into the bottom. Permanent marker was used for the facial features.

My Grandma's New Golden

Beezle,my grandma's new golden, is now out of his puppy stage and still doesn't understand that he isn't little anymore. Very sweet but wants to jump into your arms; quite the handful. His method for coming back into the house is to look into the windows at you, which is quite effective as it is startling. Mom was reminded of a song about a puppy in the window when she saw this photo of him.

Decorating!

We just about finished decorating the house for Christmas though my room needs a good pick-up and the lights decided to be difficult; but all the main decorating is finished. Gizmo decided he wasn't getting enough attention while we were putting up the ornaments on the tree, and so laid down right where I was straightening all the tissue paper! He refused to move even when more pieces were piled up on top of him :D He did perk up when he saw that we were going to take his picture.....

Softie Assembly Line

My softie box with all the various supplies needed except the yarn; very handy to keep all the little parts in the same place. The papers you see are all the free patterns I've been trying, also a handy place to keep my needles :)
Some many softies I've created but haven't posted but I return with bribes... pictures! Quite a few of these were patterns from Anapaulaoli's book and some, such as my little owls were created using one of her head patterns that I *ahem* messed up somewhere and decided would make good owls. All are shown in various states of production as I like to start a new project before I finish the picky details of the old one.

Who knew the weight of yarn could create such a difference?
Ears were made by myself using two rounds of white with a row of grey to finish When working with eyelash yarn add another yarn to see the stitches, I used grey for this softie
The messy bits next to him are his wings unattatched at the moment until I find a needle with a bigger eye
The wings were patterned by myself, I think, where I chained until I had the approximate length I wanted and then did the crochet stitch where you add an extra loop before you start the stitch, all around the wing but decreased on the last two stitches to create a kind of pointed tip to the wing.

Happy Late Thanksgiving

Had fun with fam this Thanksgiving... I can't believe that we'll be making that long trip in less than three weeks! Panic Button needs to be pressed for Christmas like in the new version of The Grinch Stole Christmas. I found this free turkey pattern, on this blog. I used remnants, fingering weight yarn, and some mixed color sock yarn for the outermost stripe. His tail was actually circular in shape and afterwards I swore I wouldn't make another turkey, but now that some time has past Maybe I should make one next fall....hmmm Anyways this little fellow is now residing with my Grandma in her woods house.
